12 Laws of the Universe – Complete Guide
This post talks about the 12 laws of the Universe that all of us should abide by and use to our advantage in order to create better lives for ourselves. We all deserve a chance at a happier, peaceful, and much more fulfilling experience of the world as we know it. Following these simple yet powerful rules of engagement with the Universe can grant us just that.
There are two ways to work towards achieving our goals – the easier way and the hard way. There’s no shame in admitting that each one of us would rather pick the former instead of struggling with the latter. If this is true for you as well, then understanding the 12 laws of the Universe can work wonders for you.
We all have our fair share of challenges to face. But it does not necessarily have to be as difficult as it may seem. Investing a minor portion of our precious time in perceiving these laws and subsequently using them for our growth and improvement can help us gain much more success than we would attain otherwise. Let us start with the simplest one right away!
Law of divine oneness

This is the first of the 12 laws of the Universe. It states that we are all connected to each other on a higher level and tend to affect the proceedings of the Universe through our actions, thoughts, words, and emotions. Even the most trivial of our deeds creates waves in the form of a ripple effect that travel through space and time to impact the whole world as one single entity and not just ourselves. In other words, everything we do, think, say, and feel matters.
Many a time, we allow ourselves to indulge in damaging and negative activities thinking that as long as no one gets to know about them, it won’t matter. But this couldn’t be farther from the truth. Even our thoughts, which always stay hidden from everyone around us, have a significant impact on the world. This is why the wisest of saints have always emphasized on the practice of harboring good thoughts only.
If you truly wish to lead a happy life, immerse yourself in positive feelings. Avoid engaging in negative emotions like anger, jealousy, hatred, etc. Treat them as indicators that you need to change your position in life and nothing more. Do not cling on to them, and most importantly, never ever let them define and identify who you are.
Use this law to generate good karma for yourself by sending out blessings to those in need. Be kind and gentle when dealing with others. Stay away from practices that have the potential to hurt someone because, since we’re all connected as one, we’ll only be hurting ourselves. And this is true not just for humans but for animals, plants, and minerals alike.
Law of vibration

This is the second of the 12 laws of the Universe. Each and every thing in this Universe, whether living or non-living, has its own vibration. Moreover, objects with similar vibrations tend to attract each other whereas those with dissimilar or opposite vibrations tend to repel each other. This law can be used to manifest anything and everything that we desire. All we have to do is develop vibrations similar to that of the latter.
For ex. If success, prosperity, and abundance is what you desire, you’re going to have to develop vibrations that will allow you to attract the same. How do you do that? Simply model your behavior, daily habits, thought patterns based on that of people who have already achieved what you desire. How do wealthy and successful individuals behave? They are careful with their money. They indulge in charity work. They eagerly consume the right knowledge required to make the right decisions. They know how to make strategic connections. So on and so forth.
Now, you may not be able to do all this right away. It’s completely natural. The important thing is to start with the process. With time, your vibrations will begin to align themselves such that soon enough you’ll find yourself stumbling upon rare doors of opportunities that will allow you to attain great success in life.
Conversely, it is just as important to stay away from vibrations which are the exact opposite of what you wish to manifest. If you spend time in the company of uninspired and pessimistic individuals, you will never be able to attract prosperity and abundance. If you consume depressing and unhelpful content, you will only bring negativity, sorrow, and dejection in your life.
Be very selective in regards with the kind of thoughts you allow in your mind. Try to avoid feelings of anger, jealousy, hatred, etc. because nothing good will ever come out of it. Stay away from anything that you know is bound to create self-defeating ideas. Engage in activities that charge you up and make you feel alive, motivated and empowered. Go out for a walk; meet new people who are much more accomplished than you; meditate regularly; educate yourself on subjects like finance, law, critical thinking, moral education, psychology, etc.; listen to your conscience; be kind, be gentle, be caring. Good things will follow.
Law of correspondence

This is the third of the 12 laws of the Universe. Human beings are creatures of habit. Our subconscious mind is impacted by our everyday rituals and thought patterns irrespective of their polarity. The positive ones tend to empower us whereas the negative ones hold us captive and restrained.
It becomes imperative to identify the habits, both mental and physical, that keep us from experiencing true bliss in life. Many a time, these negative habits are passed down from one generation to the other either in the form of genes or through learned behavior. Whether the habit or thought pattern occurs as a result of nature or nurture becomes irrelevant in the face of the fact that it can very well be changed for good through conscious effort.
For ex. If a person has a propensity to carry suppressed feelings and showcase frequent episodes of emotional outbursts and mental breakdowns, it is highly like that the latter has or had a parental figure with similar traits. Although, the roots of this kind of behavior tend to run deep into the core of one’s mindset, however, consistent practice dedicated towards improving the same can produce remarkable results in good time. The only catch here is that the individual must be willing to change.
Even the most trivial of recurring thought patterns can have a severe impact on our subconscious mind. Therefore, it is crucial to pay attention to what we think, and how we behave, and what exactly triggers our negative inclinations. Once we have that figured, we can then take the necessary mitigation measures to avoid such triggers and get rid of our self-defeating tendencies once and for all.
Law of attraction

This is the fourth of the 12 laws of the Universe. The law of attraction is simply the practical application of the law of vibration. If you wish to attract positive things in life, you’re going to have to develop a positive mindset first, followed by positive action. In today’s world, content is one thing that’s available in abundance. We don’t have to put in any rigorous effort to find what we are looking for. Be it videos, or infographics, or articles, everything is just one click away.
The challenge is to modify and control what it is that we are looking for. It is a fact that the kind of content we consume on a daily basis shapes the kind of thoughts we entertain in our minds. Watching motivational videos, knowledgeable documentaries, movies based on good human values, etc. can help us develop favourable vibrations filled with positivity. After all, we live in an era where technology has become an integral part of the society. And not embracing the same will place us in an exceedingly disadvantageous position.
The benefits of technology aren’t restricted to mental stimulation alone. We can use the latter to improve almost all spheres of our lives. From fitness bands for monitoring our health, to applications that provide guided meditations, to online courses that can teach us the most sophisticated of skills, the possibilities are unlimited. All you need to do is decide, get set, and go!
The reason we have talked about technology in relation to the law of attraction is that technology has become one of our biggest obstacles towards creating a better life for ourselves. Both adults and children tend to behave as slaves to their screens and other electronic gadgets. Like any other resource, technology too has both empowering and self-defeating sides to it. And if we don’t learn to use it wisely, we will always remain confined to the prison of our mental blocks.
Another effective way to change our vibrations is to practice affirmations. Positive and empowering phrases can work wonders when it comes to developing a strong mindset and aligning ourselves with the vibrations of the things we desire. Read our publication titled “How Do Affirmations Work – Complete Guide” to learn more about the same.
Law of inspired action

This is the fifth of the 12 laws of the Universe. The law of inspired action works in conjunction with the law of attraction. The law of attraction talks about the need to develop positive vibrations similar to that of your goals and desires. The law of inspired action forms the next step in line. It is all about taking the necessary physical measures for materializing your aspirations.
It is important to understand that you will never be able to fulfil your goals if you don’t put in the required effort. Simply consuming positive content or affirming empowering phrases will not be enough. You will have to get out of your comfort zone and work towards achieving your dreams.
The law of attraction opens a whole new world of opportunities for you to explore. It makes materializing your aspirations exceedingly simpler and easier. But you’re still going to have to incorporate tangible action if you truly wish to get somewhere.
Now, every goal will require a different kind of planning and set of measures in order to accomplish the same. But as long as you don’t lose hope, and continue to do your best, you will attain success of the highest order in the shortest possible time. After all, the Universe does work in mysterious ways.
Law of perpetual transmutation of energy

This is the sixth of the 12 laws of the Universe. It states that the smallest of efforts can help manifest the greatest of results, provided it is done with consistency and devotion. Many of us tend to wait for years before making a move towards fulfilling our dreams, hoping to bring about a revolutionary change in one single stroke.
However, this approach rarely works, and almost always leads to severe depression and despair. Instead, it is always better to take baby steps towards accomplishing your goal, because the truth is, there is so much you don’t know, and the only way to learn the same is to get your hands dirty. Following this, you then need to give yourself some time to absorb this new-found knowledge, and come up with an improvised plan of action for similar future endeavors.
That being said, it is equally important to find a balance between work and rest. Maintaining a hectic schedule for a prolonged period of time can wear you down and have adverse effects on your health. It is always recommended to create and follow a sustainable way of life, because the ultimate goal isn’t to just finish what you started, but to emerge prosperous and successful in every possible manner. A victory that makes you weak mentally or physically is no victory at all.
Do not deny yourself the pleasure of a warm pleasant weekend in the name of relentless hustle. At the same time, do not waste crucial hours by lazing around doing nothing productive. On days when you don’t feel like giving your best, give your minimal at the least. The idea is to keep the wheel running no matter how slow.
Law of cause & effect

This is the seventh of the 12 laws of the Universe. It is more popularly known as the law of karma, and states that “what goes around, comes around”, or as Newton so aptly put it, “every action has an equal and opposite reaction”.
If you hurt someone, you will be hurt. If you betray someone, you will be betrayed. If you rob someone, you will be robbed. Conversely, if you help someone in need, you will receive help automatically when you’ll need it the most. If you are kind, caring, and compassionate towards other beings, then the Universe will ensure that you receive the same treatment in return from those around. It is the way of the world.
Interestingly, the law of karma isn’t limited to maintaining a balance between right and wrong deeds. You can very well go out of your way to earn some good karma in order become eligible for receiving the vast amount of wealth and success you so eagerly seek. All you have to do is donate, share or give out more and more of that which you wish to receive.
For ex. If money is what you desire, make it a point to donate a portion of your income for a noble cause. If you wish to receive good education, devote some time towards teaching the poor and underprivileged children who cannot afford the same. If you crave warmth, love, and affection, try spreading them from your own end first, and you shall receive the same, and may be even more.
The most important thing to remember when aiming for the stars is to ensure that you are entitled to owning them in the first place. Because if you aren’t, then all your effort would go in vain. And the only way to ensure that is to make conscious effort towards improving your karmic score by generating good karma regularly. Read our publication titled “5 Easy Ways To Generate Good Karma” to know more about the same.
Law of compensation

This is the eighth of the 12 laws of the Universe. It says that “rest assured, you will be well compensated for your contributions to the world”. This includes both positive and negative ones. Sometimes, we find ourselves in difficult situations wherein we are forced to consider whether doing the right thing is going to be worth it or not. We tend to look at immediate gratification as the obvious answer to this dilemma, all the while overlooking the damaging consequences that we would have to face eventually, if we were to make the wrong choice.
It is important to understand that we are under constant supervision of the Universe. It monitors our every move and alters our fate accordingly. This is how we all have been empowered to create our own destinies. We have all been granted the free will to make our own decisions. But the catch here is that we’re going to have to live with the consequences forever. We cannot just go about robbing or hurting other people, and expect unprecedented wealth and success in return.
That being said, a lingering question that we all have in our minds is that why do so many criminals thrive while the common people suffer day in and day out. One rational explanation to this can be that the former are reaping the benefits of their past good karma. And once their good karma wears out, they will be left with no option but to pay for all their wrong doings. This is why many a time we witness great sinners go down in flames out of the blue.
Conversely, common people tend to suffer because they are currently receiving the fruits of their past bad karma. But this too does not last long, and once they’ve suffered through the consequences of their wrong doings, they eventually end up with good things in life. We don’t mean to sound condescending or demeaning. But it is a harsh truth that we would very much like our readers to absorb and understand.
There is good reason behind all of Universe’s doings. It is impartial, unbiased, and no amount of prayer will ever be enough to absolve you of your sins. Always remember this. Your actions, backed by a good compassionate intention is all that matters. You can even dilute the severity of the repercussions of your negative deeds by indulging in contrasting positive actions. This means you can push the Universe to deliver the fruits of your negative karma in small packets, so that you don’t feel overburdened by them. Do good consistently, and witness subtle miracles in your life like never before.
Lastly, this isn’t restricted to things like money, house, education, etc. It is just as true for our intangible desires, as it is for tangible ones. So let your imagination go wild. Keep your actions as well as your intention under strict scrutiny, and filter out any hurtful thoughts and emotions. Think of the long term when stuck in a dilemma. A moment of unsatisfying pleasure is not worth a lifetime of pain and misery.
Law of relativity

This is the ninth of the 12 laws of the Universe. It states that no one in this world is completely good or completely bad. There is always some amount of good in the bad and some amount of bad in the good. Each and every situation has multiple angles and perspectives associated with it, and no one outlook can ever be deemed to be the absolute one. Let us explain with an example.
There are many customs and traditions that are viewed as complete disasters in the modern world. But they were once considered to be necessary and even beneficial for the society. What changed? Certainly something that was considered to be good by the masses in the absolute sense of the word could not have turned into something ugly and derogatory all by itself. What changed after all? One word: perspective.
You see, we all tend to think we are right. We think we know it all. And we die believing that. We all forget one important truth about ourselves – that we are nothing but faults and mistakes in the flesh. It is important to challenge our beliefs and notions every now and then if we really wish to uplift ourselves as human beings.
This can work wonders for us when we find ourselves to be caught in never ending arguments with our spouses, parents, etc. It pays off to pause and understand the perspective of the person standing in front of us, because honestly, this is precisely what we would want him or her to do for us. Being empathetic towards others before forming rigid opinions is the first step towards creating meaningful relationships with those around us.
Another important aspect of the law of relativity is that we all mistakes every now and then, and expect others to understand that we’re only human. But when the situation is reversed, we become so indifferent and insensitive, and end up criticizing, disrespecting, and demeaning others for petty hiccups. Hypocrisy is never rewarded, dear friend. The art of forgiveness is a difficult trade to master, but it is a crucial one nonetheless.
This is why we should all strive to be as non-judgmental as we can. It is perhaps the best quality that we can acquire as social beings. Learn to give the benefit of doubt whenever possible. It’ll keep you from harboring unnecessary resentment towards those who hurt you, and grant you the ability to be in control of your emotions.
Law of polarity

This is the tenth of the 12 laws of the Universe. According to this law, each and every entity in this world co-exists with a unique polar opposite. For ex. good and evil, light and dark, compassionate and hurtful, positive and negative, etc. The presence of one compliments the existence of the other.
If the concept of hate was to disappear from the face of this planet, the concept of love would lose its significance altogether. Why? Because the presence of hate is what gives meaning and importance to love as a virtue. A person who has never experienced hate, will never be able to appreciate love to its full extent. This is why many a time we find that the people we’ve been loving and caring for so long have started taking us for granted.
Sometimes, it becomes crucial to experience both sides of the coin in order to gain better insight as to who we are and what we want from life. At the same time, it is also important to learn to let go of that which does not fulfil our purpose. There is no sense in clinging onto negative emotions like hate, anger, jealousy. But experiencing them briefly makes us better individuals for we learn to value virtues like love, peace, and kindness.
Law of perpetual motion

This is the eleventh of the 12 laws of the Universe. It states that change is the only constant in life. Nothing stays permanent. If you think you’ve been suffering for too long, give it time. The situation will inevitably become better. Conversely, if you’ve been enjoying life for too long, know that it is highly likely that things may go south anytime. This is not to instill fear or a sense of uncertainty in your mind, but to make you aware that one ought to be prepared for rainy days at all times.
This is one of the most important lessons of life that we all need to learn sooner than later. Also, this further highlights how critical it becomes to stay grounded in success and hopeful in misery. If we tend to look down upon those who aren’t doing as well as us, it is only a matter of time before we are forced to be at the receiving end of such judgements. If we torment our subordinates or people we consider to be beneath us for the sole reason that we can, be confident, we will be tormented in return because there is always a meaner fish in the pond.
Law of giving & receiving

This is the twelfth of the 12 laws of the Universe. It says that we all need to learn to give as well as receive properly if we wish to succeed in life. We have already talked about the importance of giving in sections of law of cause & effect and law of compensation. Let us now discuss the significance of learning how to receive what we desire.
It has been observed on multiple occasions that those who receive abundantly tend to forget where they’ve come from. They forget about the pain of not having enough. They forget about the constant struggle they had to go through in order to reach where they are. And even if they do remember, they remain under this false assumption that their past has now become a distant nightmare.
As a result, when great success finally hits them, it becomes exceedingly difficult for them to digest and absorb the same. They develop a mean, condescending, and self-righteous attitude towards others. They even become greedy and selfish, not wanting to share their wealth with those in need. A false sense of pride and ego clouds their judgement, so much so that they start acting disrespectful towards those who had once helped them get back on their feet.
What comes to pass after all this is pretty obvious. People who fail to receive their blessings humbly are stripped of the same. They then have to learn to handle the burden of prosperity the hard way. Almost always, such people are pushed to live in darker corners of life and it becomes very difficult to redeem oneself.
When life offers you a chance at heaven, remember to stay humble and polite. Stay connected to your roots, and never ever let go of your virtues. Remember the law of perpetual motion: change is the only constant. You could be successful one day and miserable the next. Your strength lies in the people who love and respect you for who you are. Your wealth lies in the charity you do for others.
Conclusion
The 12 laws of the Universe teach us the most efficient way of life. They teach us how we can manifest our dreams rapidly and properly. They also tell us about the various dos and don’ts that we should follow on our journey towards unprecedented success. When followed with consistency and devotion, these laws can work wonders for all of us! Share this article if you think there’s someone in your circle of impact who can benefit from reading this.
